Transforming Lives Through Sports

Every child deserves an opportunity to dream, grow, and succeed. Yet thousands of talented children and young people across Uganda’s rural communities, refugee settlements, informal urban settlements, and underserved districts lack access to the support they need to unlock their full potential.

SMKA Grassroots Sports Initiative (SGSI) uses the power of sports to identify, nurture, protect, and empower vulnerable children and youth. Through talent development, life skills training, education support, leadership development, and community engagement, we create pathways that help young people build brighter futures.

Whether a child dreams of becoming a professional athlete, a community leader, or a successful entrepreneur, SGSI provides the platform to turn that dream into reality.

Our Impact Areas

Talent Identification and Development

We discover and nurture sports talent among children and youth who would otherwise remain unseen. Through coaching, competitions, training camps, and mentorship, we help young athletes reach their full potential.

Youth Empowerment

We equip young people with life skills, leadership abilities, entrepreneurship knowledge, and confidence to succeed both on and off the field.

Girls in Sports

We create opportunities for girls and young women to participate, lead, and thrive in sports while challenging barriers that limit their potential.

Refugee and Community Integration

Sports bring people together. Our programs promote social inclusion, peace-building, and positive relationships between refugee and host communities.

Disability Inclusion

Every young person deserves an opportunity to participate. We work to ensure children and youth with disabilities can access sports and development opportunities.

Education and Child Protection

We combine sports with safeguarding, mentorship, and educational support to help children remain safe, stay in school, and pursue brighter futures.
